Zecotek Presents 3D Display Technology to Sony Delegation at Canadian Technology Showcase
Singapore, February 15, 2012 - Zecotek Photonics Inc. (TSX-V: ZMS; Frankfurt: W1I), a developer of leading-edge photonics technologies for medical, industrial and scientific markets, today announced that it was one of five Canadian companies selected to participate in the Canadian Technology Showcase held on Thursday, February 9, 2012 in Vancouver, BC. The Canadian Technology Showcase was organized by Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada to highlight Canadian technologies for visiting senior executives from Sony Corp. of Japan. Zecotek was selected to present its patented glasses-free 3D display technology.
“It was an honour to participate in such an exclusive event and present our patented glasses-free 3D display technology to senior executives of Sony Corp.,” said Dr. A.F. Zerrouk, Chairman, President, and CEO of Zecotek Photonics Inc. “They were able to experience the versatility of our auto-stereoscopic 3D display and its adaptability to various consumer applications. They also experienced the real volumetric 3D viewing with one of the widest viewing angles, smooth transition between views and the highest resolution compared to other competing glasses-free 3D technologies.”
Zecotek’s patented Real-Time 3D Display System is based on the auto-stereoscopic principle, but with substantial innovative. It has the capability of simultaneously presenting to multiple users both 3D and 2D images on the same screen with separate views and at different viewing angles. The 3D display system provides comfortable conditions for viewing a volumetric representation without eye strain. The viewing of such 3D images does not require the use of any supplementary means such as glasses, does not drastically limit the position of the viewer with respect to the display, and allows simultaneous viewing of the 3D display by many viewers from a sufficiently wide field of view.
Zecotek is seeking an industry partner to integrate the 3D technology into a cost competitive, high resolution, auto-stereoscopic flat screen 3D display, based on LCD and OLED panels. Presently, management believes there are no competing technologies that provide a glasses-free 3D display on a flat screen panel, preserving HD resolution, at an affordable cost. The patented 3D display system for the visualization of images and data has been developed in-house by Zecotek’s scientific team and technical staff and does not rely on any licensed intellectual property.
