Fiber Lasers

Fiber lasers are set to capture a large share of the $2-billion industrial laser market from conventional laser technologies. Their design is generally more efficient, more compact, and more reliable that conventional lasers, and the life cycle cost is competitive compared to solid-state and even gas lasers.

ZLS fiber laser products are aimed at OEM manufacturers of medical and industrial systems who are looking for the higher power at specific wavelengths available from fiber sources. ZLS products will also be attractive for use in fundamental and applied research. Our portfolio comprises blue and green wavelength emitting lasers, Raman fiber lasers and femtosecond lasers.

CW blue and green fiber lasers

ZLS is developing fiber lasers in blue-green spectral region with operating wavelengths corresponding to argon ion and solid-state laser wavelength as future replacement devices of those lasers in many existing applications:

  • Bio-instrumentation: DNA sequencing, flow Cytometry, scanning laser microscopy;
  • Medicine: ophthalmology, dermatology, urology;
  • Printing and imaging , inspection and measurement;
  • Laser writing and lithography: laser writing, lithography and sintering;
  • Fundamental research: spectroscopy, fluorescence analysis.

Features of ZLS blue and green fiber lasers:

  • Broad range of operating wavelengths: 458, 488, 515, 529, 531 (Ar/Kr ion laser replacement), 532 (DPSS replacement), 540, 550, 560 (additional) and many others in the range 450–570 nm; Specification sheets available for 540nm and 550 nm
  • Tuneability (>10 nm);
  • Multi-wavelength and narrow-band options.

CW broadly tuneable high-power Raman fiber laser / OCT source

We are developing Raman fiber lasers (RFL) in the 1.3, 1.4, and 1.5 micron regions with multi-wavelength / tuneable output (with spectral range ~100 nm) for new applications:

  • OCT: Optical Coherence Tomography;
  • WDM optical communications (multi-wavelength / tuneable 14xx pump and 15xx signal sources);
  • Basic research.

Femtosecond fiber lasers

The target:

to develop ultimately reliable fiber lasers having all-fiber design with operating wavelengths corresponding to solid state laser wavelength as a future replacement devices of those lasers in many existing applications as well as new lasers for new applications.

  • Bio-instrumentation: time-resolved confocal laser microscopy, OCT, two-photon microscopy;
  • Medicine: endoscopes, two-photon diagnostics, and therapy, life science;
  • Micromachining: ID marking and encryption, nanotechnologies;
  • Fundamental research: harmonic generation, high-field physics, etc.;
  • Optical communication: high-speed optical sampling, high-resolution OTDR, optical switching;
  • Metrology: frequency comb generation and application;
  • Defence and security: THz imaging, visualisation, and inspection.

Features of ZLS Femtosecond fiber lasers:

  • Broad range of operating wavelengths: 750–800 nm, 1030–1060 nm, 1500–1600 nm (telecom range);
  • Original all-fiber design;
  • Self-similar regime (parabolic pulses);
  • Short duration (<50 fs) at high pulse energies (>10 nJ) from master oscillator with higher energy potential;
  • Distortion-free amplification;
  • Tuneability.
